DEFINITION: Category- a class or division of people or things regarded as having particular shared characteristics. Quantity- the amount or number of a material or immaterial thing not usually estimated by spatial measurement. HOW TO Example: You have 7 blue shirts and 3 red shirts. The Categories (Types of shirts) are red and blue. The quantity of blue shirts is 7 The quantity of red shirts is 3 The quantity of shirts in all is 10 Everyday Use: We use categories and quantities every day when we categorize things and try to figure out the amount of something.
