Sign inProportion
Definition:
A statement of equality between two ratios in which the first of the four terms divided by the second equals the third divided by the fourth (as in 4/2=10/5)
HOW TO:
Solving proportions is simply a matter of stating the ratios as fractions, setting the two fractions equal to each other, cross-multiplying, and solving the resulting equation

I can show you all about a ratio proportion
Now, a proportion are two ratios that equal to each other
Like 1/5th and 3/15ths
When you cross multiply both products must
Stay equal to each other
You have that then what you see is nothing more than
Ra-ra-ra ratios with por-por-por portions
So many possibilities we have to explore them
Let me break the lesson down (down, down, down)
So we can all get it now (now, now, now)
Now, let’s say I have 1 to 2 as a ratio
It’s written as ½ as a fraction
In order for us to make a proportion with even another fraction
Let’s try 2/4ths and see what will happened
We cross multiply 1x4 and 2x2
Hoping that our results will stay equal
1x4 is 4
2x2 is 4
We did it !
Now we all have proportion fever, yeah!!!!
The easiest way for you to create a proportion
Is to multiply the denominator and the numerator of your ratio fraction by the same number
Got it? Let’s go !!!

Standards
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.2 — Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.EE.B.5 — Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.2.C — Represent proportional relationships by equations.
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.2.D — Explain what a point (x, y) on the graph of a proportional relationship means in terms of the situation, with special attention to the points (0, 0) and (1, r) where r is the unit rate.
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.2.B — Identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in tables, graphs, equations, diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships.
