Sign inDEFINITION:
A brief statement, written in your own words, restating the writer’s main points. Paraphrase, although written in your own words, is used to relate the details or the development of an idea in your source. Importance: Paraphrasing assists your readers in increasing a detailed understanding of your information, and, indirectly, to acknowledge your theory as well founded. There are two main purposes for using paraphrase in your compositions.
HOW TO:
1. Use paraphrase to offer information or data whenever there is no special purpose for using a direct quotation. . . . 2. Use paraphrase to offer your readers a precise and complete account of ideas selected from a source--ideas that you plan to clarify, understand, or disagree with in your essay. . . .
Everyday Use:
Paraphrasing is used every day in reading, writing and daily conversation.
Lyrics
This how you paraphrase
The first thing you do is read the passage
Then you think about it
Now rewrite it 2x
The first thing that you do
Read the passage that you want to use
Understand it and write it down
Can't just switch the words around
Because you will be confused
If paraphrasing was a game
Then you will lose because you have to know the rules
For example, the people that’s on the news
They got a story and they sum it up
And put it in their own words
I’m teaching paraphrasing
And this meaning in my own words
If somebody, ask you what it is
Just tell them in your own words
HOOK
The first thing you do is read the passage
Then you think about it
Now rewrite it 2x
