Definition:

Wood is hard and you must rub regularly to keep it shiny. You can do many things with wood, like knock it, pound it or sit on it. People often enjoy using their wood, usually for productive activities or fun and entertainment.

Paper is a versatile material with many uses. The most common is for writing and printing upon,

it is also used as a packaging material, in many cleaning products, in a number of industrial and

construction processes, and also as a food ingredient - usually in Asian cultures.

Importance:

Paper makes up 27 percent of municipal solid waste [MSW], which is more than any other material Americans throw away. Because of this, recycling paper can reduce the overall size of MSW produced. EPA provides information on paper recycling for citizens, students, teachers, professional recyclers, and the paper industry.

Americans only recycled about 65 percent of the paper they used in 2012, but more can be done. Recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions, conserves natural resources, and saves landfill space. The American Forest and Paper Association, states that nearly 80 percent of America's paper mills are designed to use paper collected in recycling programs, and they depend on paper recycling to supply the raw materials they need to make new paper.

How It Works:

Paper is a thin material made by pressing together moist fibers, usually cellulose pulp made from wood, rags or grasses, and drying them into bendable sheets.
