Affix: an additional element placed at the beginning or end of a root, stem, or word, or in the body of a word, to modify its meaning. Prefix: a word, letter, or number placed before another. Suffix: a morpheme added at the end of a word to form a derivative, e.g., -ation, -fy, -ing, -itis.
HOW TO:
For prefixes The rule here is simple: Don’t add or omit a letter when you attach a prefix. Keep all the letters—every one of them. For suffixes the rule is quite similar, keep all the letters when you add a suffix … unless the word ends in a y or a silent e.
Everyday Use:
Affix, Prefix and Suffix are all used in daily conversation, Reading, Writing and more
