Linking Words Definition used to show relationships between ideas, They can be used to join 2 or more sentences or clauses (a clause is a group of words which contains a subject and a verb). Linking words/phrases can be used to add ideas together, contrast them, or show the reason for something.

Definition: A main idea is important information that tells more about the overall idea of a paragraph or section of a text. Everyday Use: If your doing anything that involves finding information that tells about an overall idea, then you are using main idea. For example, when you are trying to give a book, song or poem a title you are looking for information that perfectly describes the overall theme. This is called using Main Idea.
