DEFINTION: A word or phrase that decribes or changes (modifies) a person, place or thing. HOW IT WORKS: In the sentence: “The small, green, noisy car made a left turn. 'Small,' 'green' and 'noisy' are adjectives becasue they describe the car. HOW IT'S USED IN EVERYDAY LIFE: Adjectives are used every day when describing a person, place or thing. Adjectives provide more detail or modify about a noun. Adverb
DEFINITON: Adverbs are the part of speech that are used to modify a verb, adjective, or other adverb. Adverbs can also modify prepositional phrases, subordinate clauses, and complete sentences. Adverbs are used tell us when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed. Adverbs can be one word or multiple words. HOW IT WORKS: Here are some examples: When: He walked yesterday. Where: He walked here. How: He walked quickly. In what manner: He walked barefoot. To what extent: He had the farthest to walk. HOW IT'S USED IN EVERYDAY LIFE: Adverbs are used every day in conversation when telling when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed.
